Wilshire Boulevard Temple Camp Hess Kramer
Owned by Wilshire Boulevard Temple, several generations of youth enjoyed summer camp in Malibu's canyons at Camp Hess Kramer and Gindling Hilltop Camp. In 2018, the Woolsey Fire destroyed most of the buildings. Structural Focus is working on rebuilding efforts to restore camp activities at the original site. The phased rebuild is underway with Phase 1 of the construction having started in late 2025.
The current scope includes renovating the existing buildings on site to provide residences, a kitchen, and a dining room. It also includes a new arts and crafts building. The future phases of the project include many new structures including a new welcome center, gymnasium, pool building, and multipurpose building. It also includes more than 20 wood framed camper cabins. The camper experience will be enhanced with many site structures including an archery pavilion, outdoor auditorium, and climbing wall.
